Your story is not done…

I help people find their way back to themselves—and to the God they’re not sure they believe in anymore.

My name is Matt.
I’m a former credentialed pastor and professional Christian. A recovering addict, deviant, and performance-driven soul. For years, I tried to earn belonging—on stages, behind pulpits, and in the quiet spaces no one saw. I know what it’s like to be the one offering answers while quietly drowning in questions. To carry both spiritual authority and spiritual exhaustion.

After years in ministry, I found myself untethered—no longer able to uphold the version of faith I once taught. That unraveling wasn’t the end. It was the beginning of something more honest. More human.

That’s why I started My Soul Rehab—a space for the spiritually exiled, the burned-out, the disoriented, and the done. A space for those deconstructing, grieving, and wondering where God is in the mess of it all.

Through spiritual direction, soul care, and coaching, I help people reimagine faith and reconnect with meaning. My work is rooted in compassion, curiosity, and deep listening—not answers or agendas. I blend ancient Christian wisdom, trauma-informed practices, and frameworks like the 7 Primal Questions to support people on the long road home to themselves and God.

We begin wherever you are—not where you think you should be. Our sessions are honest, conversational, and grounded—not performative or prescriptive. I walk with people who feel spiritually homeless or tired of pretending—those asking, “Am I still loved?” or “Is God still here?”

I’m still learning to surrender. Still relaxing my grip on the control I pretend to have. Still letting go of the rules that kept me performing and embracing a deeper grace.

I believe healing is possible when we’re seen, heard, and safe enough to wrestle with the questions that won’t leave us alone.

This is soul work.
This is rehab for the parts of you that still believe something more is possible.

What to expect…

Spiritual Direction

A session usually lasts about a hour, either on video, in North County San Diego, or over the phone. In that time, there will be listening, maybe some questions asked, maybe a practice like centering prayer. But the biggest thing that is made available to you during that time is the opportunity to share whatever is in your life, on your mind, or in your heart without shame or fear of judgment. It is a holy invitation to love & be loved. And that can look radically different depending on life-station, wounds, upbringing, religious tradition, etc.

Coaching

Usually going to consist of a minimum 3 month commitment to gain understanding of what motivates you or your organization, define desired outcomes and goals, and layout a path to achieve them with planned accountability sessions. We start with my two favorite questions: “Where are you?” & “What do you want?”. I love to utilize the frameworks I’ve learned and implemented from The Rescue Academy & Primal Questions, both amazing resources from Mike Foster that will aid us in the work we’ll be doing together.
